Vauxhall Gardes feature prominently in the literature of the period. Fielding, Thackery and Dickens all set scenes there. Pepys mentioned the Gardens repeatedly in his diaries. Hogarth painted many of the supper boxes, and Wordsworth wrote about the lamps like stars.
