Perhaps if the young lady in question had grown up in the East End she would be aware that it was not Ken Livingstone who destroyed the Victorian Architecture of the East End but the Luftwaffe.
I would be interested to know how many Victorian and Georgian "villages" are being destroyed by Ken in the East End. Given that the vast vast majority of such neighbourhoods have not existed since 1945 I feel the number would be quite low. Most of the stuff being rebuilt is decaying post world War 2 concrete and those buildings from the 60's and 70's that the countess rightly complains about.
