THE SUNDAY TIMES STYLE MAGAZINE – TOO SILLY!

I simply can't figure out what The Sunday Times Style Magazine is up to, groans Mrs. M. Its articles have been getting sillier and sillier, until finally now it's almost unreadable.  A recent issue called 'Rule Britannia' is packed with absurd clothes for absurd people, mostly those under 24?...maybe  under 18! There are young girls wearing Tudor crowns, sitting on gilded thrones.

It's interesting (to a degree) to see what's going on with the young style Titans, but BORING in excess.  There are plenty of magazines out there catering for this market, but why face this with our Sunday morning papers?  Is The Times trying to compete with Heat or Wallpaper?  Does the Sunday Times reader want to find out where to get a tattoo and a ‘shag-me' bra?  I know I'm out of date, but I thought theses papers were aimed at a more mature demographic.  It's so tedious when broadsheets try to be ‘sexy.'

It was bad enough when the Saturday Times came out with ‘Luxx,' a grotesque luxury market mag, just as the credit crunch hit.  Now some lifestyle editor has brainstormed and come up with this trendsetting nonsense.

As I thumb through these pages, I feel more and more irritated by the wacky hair, the goth make-up, the pretentious decadence, the expensive ‘sartorial' chic-ness that seems so out of place with The Times readers.  In a board room someone has said, ‘we have to be more Noughties, more wondermum, more indulgent, more Kate Moss.'

Wake up, Sunday Times, this is so Yesterday!
