"The price of living
in England is shocking," moans Mrs. M. Tourists are staying away, “We can stay in the best hotels
in Rome for half the price of a moderate hotel in London.”

I think both mayoral
candidates should consider what London has become? Congestion zones, emission zones, speed cameras, cameras everywhere for
everything. It may be a global financial
centre, but it’s not a friendly place to live anymore. You can’t stay a minute over in a metred
space without being ticketed, clamped or towed away. You’re rip-ed-off in services and mediocre
restaurants. No one can afford a good restaurant. No one feels safe on the streets. A small run-down flat in an old working class
neighbourhood costs as much as a large house in America or Europe. A pizza is £10 in a road off Fulham. It’s difficult to believe it’s the same London that was so pleasant to live in twenty years
ago. Parents worry about their children
getting home at night. Public
transportation is expensive and dangerous.
Bring back the old
London!
