YOU ENGLISH, with your
non-stop television property programs! No
wonder the prices of homes in Britian are absurd, writes Countess du Ruel. We Europeans cannot understand…
Why an uninteresting
semi-detached in the back streets of Hackney is worth a million dollars. Who can afford to live in England? There is no value for money. The price of living in your country is out of
scale with what you actually enjoy. Restaurants are too expensive to eat in and the cost of everyday
expenses makes our cities look cheap.
Your over priced houses all look the same: sterile, Ikea-minimal, with black granite kitchen tops and spa bathrooms. There’s no personality or taste at all. Just one boring formula expounded by style gurus on daytime television who are standardizing the look of English décor so that every suburb in England looks identical. Yawn…
Give me bad taste any day.
