Discretion being the order of the day, Balfour doesn’t disclose her private clients. The list is long and distinguished. Balfour’s corporate fans include Vogue, Estee Lauder, Issa and Amanda Wakeley. Publications including You, ES, Grazia, Easy Living, The Times and DailyCandy have all raved about the company. When the vibrant Victoria Mather mentioned EE’s famous potted brown shrimps in her Social Stereotypes column in the Saturday Telegraph Magazine,Balfour was besieged with orders from all over the world. The petits gris shrimps are now sold in Daylesford Café and have won a prestigious Taste Award. EE’s jars of hand-cut shortbread biscuits make excellent presents for weekends away.

Whether you’re giving a brunch, lunch, tea or dinner party, simply choose what you want from the online menu 48 hours in advance, and it will be delivered to your home or office by hand. For starters, there are chive and mint blinis with beetroot-cured salmon, or crab, broad bean and watercress salad with parmesan wafers. Main courses include pancetta-wrapped salmon with lime crème fraiche or a fine saffron chicken, while puddings like Earl Grey chocolate mousse with orange blossom cream put a smile on everyone’s face. The white chocolate terrine is sublime.
